I just wish the levels were longer, and a little less time spent on boss fights. Truly a game that has not received the mainstream attention it deserves.
The music, the sound design, the art, everything is awesome. I really appreciate the efforts they made to preserve the feeling like you’re playing a game from 25 years ago without improving the graphics to the point where it feels like a modern game. It doesn’t try to modernize the graphics too much so that it takes away from the old school aesthetics. The aesthetics found that perfect sweet spot between still feeling like this is a game from the 90’s, while going the extra mile to make it look REALLY good. Obviously it’s impossible to ignore the incredible pixel graphics and 80’s art design. The simplicity and challenge really brings me back the same feelings I experienced playing games from the 8 and 16bit era. The gameplay isn’t very deep, but it’s technical and challenging, which makes it very entertaining and rewarding. now to be clear the game IS STILL bad.īut the reason i rate this game positivly is to show the developers on the new fixed versions that they are doing something right and should continue their work and maybe one day itll be atleast a little bit of a good mod (maybe). Now throughout the year more and more updates dropped and i gotta say by now it is actually really playable and a few very rare parts are actually a bit fun, which really shocked me. It fixed a lot of problems and made the game into a bit of a joke with some funny achievements and overhauled a bunch of the game to make it more playable.

i rated Hunt down the Freeman positivly on steam.Įarlier this year an update was released to Hunt down the Freeman, in which some developers worked together on, without the man responsible for this game. (there are a bunch of really good videos on how bad this game is, look up pyrocynical hunt down the refund or radiation hazard hunt down the freeman, these videos have spoilers but in the end the story of this game isnt impressive at all due to how bad the entire game feels). This Japanese sci-fi noir and its now iconic soundtrack and vintage (but still solidly stylish) animation.

Hunt Down The Freeman did basicly everything wrong a game can do wrong, bad story, bad gameplay, buggy, horrible looking, unfinished, unfitting voice actors and worst of all the man behind the game did it all for money and a job at a company. When this game released it was horrible, up until a few months ago it was maybe one of the worst games ever published on steam (im going to talk about why it may not be anymore later).
